Why oh why … the misuse isn’t even consistent

Look above the shop at the red sign. You have to forgive Paul in Lyme Regis for this. So many plurals, it’s easy to get confused.

I was in the Science Museum in London when I saw this – one of several actually. It’s a 1970’s calculator – which of course should be a 1970s calculator… Does that make me pedant of the week?

Well, this Google ad doesn’t say much for their proofreading services. There’s a different incorrect apostrophe on their website home page too. Tut tut.
This one goes out to Somerset Highways and their HGV’s. That sign is unsuitable for apostrophes, people.
Well, too many people get ‘its’ wrong, but Bristol Post online – shame on you.
Looks like Ikea couldn’t decide whether to include an apostrophe! It should have left it in.
